Wow, this has been a busy week trying to keep caught up on classes and work. I really never wanted to use Twitter. I didn't think it would be beneficial to me and honestly I didn't have extra time to do use this. I didn't think it was hard setting it up but trying to find everyone seemed difficult. I am sure it's just me :) I think with a little time on it I will become accustomed to using it. I see now how beneficial it can be...although I still think it will be time consuming. I am still trying to figure out Tweet Deck. I'll get it soon as well. While doing some searches for people I can add to my Twitter, I was surprised at all the other things I could follow. I am sure there is going to be so much useful information I can get off here.
Ok, so on to me now - ha! Like I said earlier, this has been a very busy weekend. My daughter has been at a dance convention and competition all weekend while our son was at wrestling. He took 1st place at his tournament. Can you tell I'm a proud mamma!
Michelle, don't worry, I think a lot of us are struggling with Twitter. I am in the same boat as you with not wanting to use it at first. I do think it is something more that I am going to have to think about, "oh did I tweet today" or "gosh, what should I say that would be beneficial to others?" But hang in there, we are all feeling the same as you! I do think if we can figure out really how to use it in the classroom, we will all be much better teachers with all the resources available to us!
ReplyDeleteYes,I know this will end up being a great resource!
DeleteI was in the same boat as you were. I did not want to create a twitter account and I did not really understand how it could be beneficial. Now having created an account I can see the perks to using Twitter. Twitter is a great tool for communication. I think twitter is a very easy way for teachers and students to collaborate with one another. I love how we can share ideas on lessons and ask for suggestions from fellow educators.
ReplyDeleteIt's the same for me, and so many other web tools. You never really know how a tool will work out for you until you try it and use it in real-world situations over time. I must have signed up for a hundred over the last two years, and maybe 25 of them have been worthwhile. Of course, my email spam folder fills up everyday, but this is life, lol.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are getting the hang of it. Hang in there.....it will become easier as the weeks pass.
ReplyDeleteI always ask people for their Twitter name because it is easier to find them that way. If you know their Twitter name then you can just type this URL in:
https://twitter.com/TWITTERNAME
Once I find them I follow them.
I also started creating a Twitter list of everyone in our course. This may help you find everyone to follow in this course:
https://twitter.com/ghartman/mbu-edet543-spring-2013
Talk to you soon!
I enjoyed seeing the pictures of your kids!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I am a very proud mamma!
DeleteBoy, I think we are all feeling the same way. It's all so new and there is so much to learn and try. I'm just reciting the mantra, "Slow and steady wins the race." I'm definitely a tortoise in cyberspace, rather than a hare.
ReplyDeleteMe too! I am sure I'll get it eventually.
